Privacy Policy

Handleshare is a digital business card that you fill in yourself and share on your own terms. Everything you put in the app stays on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud account. We never see it.
In short — No accounts. No tracking. No analytics. No advertising. No servers of ours. Your card is shared only when you choose to share it, with the person you choose to share it with.
What you put into Handleshare
Handleshare stores the information you choose to add to your card(s): your name, pronouns, title, company, phone, email, postal address, web and social links, booking and payment links, a short intro and bio, a profile photo, Wi-Fi network details (name, security type, and password), and any file attachments you add (for example a portfolio, menu, or resume).
All of this is stored locally on your device. If you're signed in to iCloud, it is also synced to your own private iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit private database, container iCloud.com.fbmore.Handleshare) so your cards appear across your devices and survive a reinstall. The developer of Handleshare has no access to this data, and it is never placed in any public or shared database.
Sharing is always your call
Nothing leaves your device unless you initiate it. When you share your card — via QR code, the iOS share sheet, email, or Messages — the information travels directly from your device to the person you're sharing with. There is no Handleshare server in between. QR codes (including Wi-Fi codes) are generated on your device.
A note on Wi-Fi: your network name and password are part of your card data only because you typed them in, and they're shared only when you present the Wi-Fi QR code or explicitly include them in a share.
Backups you create
Handleshare can save a backup file containing everything above — profiles, attachments, scans and photos — into its own folder on your iPhone, visible in Files under On My iPhone → Handleshare → Backups. It is created on your device and stays there unless you move or share it yourself. Anyone with access to that file can read its contents, so treat it like any other copy of your personal data: keep it somewhere you trust, and delete backups you no longer need.
Scanning other people's cards
If you scan a paper business card or a QR code, the resulting contact information is processed on your device and kept in a local scan history. If you choose to save a scanned contact, it is added to your device's Contacts — with your permission, using Apple's Contacts framework. Scanned data is not uploaded anywhere by Handleshare.
Device permissions
- Camera — to scan QR codes and paper business cards.
- Photo library — to pick a profile photo, and to save QR codes or card images if you export them.
- Contacts — only to save contacts you scanned, when you ask it to.
Each permission is requested only when the feature needs it, and the app works without any of them.
Purchases
Handleshare Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card details. We use RevenueCat to check whether a purchase is active. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier for your install along with the purchase and subscription status tied to it — not your name, email, or anything from your cards. If you never buy Pro, nothing is sent.
Services your device contacts directly
Some features fetch things from the internet. These requests go from your device to the service named, never through us, and we receive nothing back:
- OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — if your card includes a postal address and you export a card or PDF showing a map, that address is sent to Nominatim to look up its coordinates, and map tiles are fetched from OpenStreetMap.
- unpkg.com — the map view loads its rendering library from this CDN, which sees your IP address.
- Google's favicon service — when you scan a QR code containing a web address, the site's domain is sent to Google to fetch its icon for your scan history.
- The sites you scan — to show a preview thumbnail in scan history, your device loads the scanned page, so that site sees your IP address as any visit would.
What we do not collect
- No account, sign-in, or registration of any kind.
- No analytics, usage tracking, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs.
- No advertising identifier, and no tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
- No location data.
- No card content — names, numbers, photos, attachments, Wi-Fi credentials — is ever sent to the developer.
Third-party links
Your card can include links to external services (for example a Venmo, PayPal, or booking page). Tapping those links opens the external site or app; what happens there is governed by that service's own privacy policy. Handleshare never accesses those accounts.
Children's privacy
Handleshare is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
